Hello! My name is Chiko and I want to welcome you to MyBarnabas.com. I am a 23 years old (As of 2009) dreamer in pursuit of freedom. I have a lot of interests/passions, with one of them being personal finance. I started MyBarnabas.com to share my experiences and adventure towards achieving financial independence.
On my 22nd birthday (July, 26, 2008), I sat down and mapped out a lot of the things that I will like to accomplish in life. I categorized them all in four major Phases (Freedom, Wealth, Difference, Legacy), with each phase beginning after the previous is complete. I established a long-term goal for each Phase and then broke it into short-term goals (3 months long). In a way, MyBarnabas.com is also a way to keep me accountable to my short-term goals, which leads to my long-term goals.
My current major goal is to be financially independent (residual income greater than my full-time job income) by the age of 25. Hence, I am currently in The Pursuit of Freedom phase. My focus is to create enough residual income to be free from having to depend on a 9-5. Seems like a task right? I agree, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible, right? Follow me through this wonderful journey. If you believe in me then cheer me on, if not then grab a chair, sit back, relax, keep your eye on my channel (Dream Station) and watch me make it happen.
I recently graduated from Towson University on January 11, 2009 with a bachelors degree in Health Care Management and a minor in Business Administration. I am fortunate to graduate college with absolutely no debt (Gate’s Scholar, stock trading, business owner, part-time jobs) unlike many college students. Upon completing my internship for a large health care company, (during my last semester in college) I was hire as an entry-level manager (Recruiter) for that company. I enjoy what I do as a health care recruiter, but I have bigger dreams.
My goal for MyBarnabas.com is not just to talk about myself, I want it to be a place/community where people come for encouragement, learning and entertainment. I plan to do this by adding different elements to MyBarnabas.com that you will not see elsewhere in the personal finance blog world. Don’t miss out on this movement, subscribe now (email or RSS) let’s build something GREAT!
